Live and Alive
My first time live-tweeting ended up being incredibly fun. As a musical theatre major I don't get many chances to participate in campus activities. I have never been to a football game because they always fall during rehearsals and I can’t join a sorority because the time commitment clashes with my other responsibilities. I am very busy so this lack of school spirit hasn't bothered me much until now.
I attended the parade with two of my friends who are also in my major. We stopped at Starbucks before settling in to watch the parade. It was absolutely packed! I made sure to tweet about that because I was shocked by how many people could fit into a small-town coffee shop. We got our breakfast and found a cute picnic table on Main Street to sit and watch.
One of my favorite things about parades is hearing the music before you can see the band. It felt so nostalgic listening for the sound of the drums coming down the street. I made sure to tweet about that too because it was very memorable to me. Another highlight for me was seeing the Polar Paws. They are my favorite part about this campus and they bring me joy every time I see them between classes. Thankfully my friend has a dog and brings him to most of her classes so I get to satisfy my animal needs.
The rest of the parade went by in a blur of fraternities and sororities. I have a few friends in Kappa Alpha Theta and I loved getting to hug them quickly as they went by. Then the fire trucks zoomed past and the parade was sadly over.
This experience ended up being a ton of fun. It made me wish I had more time to be a part of this community I love so much. I enjoyed seeing all the families and students dressed up in full ONU gear. Everyone was loud and joyous enjoying their festive Saturday. My friends agreed that we should try to attend more events because it made us so happy. I’m glad this assignment broadened my horizons and encouraged me to make more of an effort to show my ONU pride.

I'm so glad I got to watch the parade with you. It was super fun. And one of my favorite parts was seeing the polar paws dogs too! They were so cute and one was even dressed as a shark it was adorable. Maybe we should start going to more campus events together!
